Royale Pizza Napoletana plans to open Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 1680 Meridian Ave. in South Beach, a block north of Lincoln Road, according to an announcement from the restaurant published by Miami’s Community News on Thursday.

The pizzeria is the work of Jess Varughese, who founded the members-only Miami dining club Haiku, and its pies follow the style of the Tokyo pizzaiolo known as Chef Bun of the restaurant Savoy, according to the announcement. Haiku executive chef Albert Diaz and chef Dalila Sabatino round out the kitchen.

The owners describe a casual, 65-seat room built around a large communal table. Customers order at the counter, seating is first come, first served and there are no reservations. Takeout and delivery are planned from opening day. The announced menu runs from a 4 marinara pizza and a 7 margherita to specialty pies at 2 to 5, plus pastas, salads and gelato, with wine, sake and beer.

State records show a restaurant license under the Royale Pizza Napoletana name at 1680 Meridian Ave., Unit 102, issued Oct. 20 to Royale Pizza Napoletana LLC. The opening date comes from the restaurant itself and has not been independently confirmed.

The restaurant posts updates on Instagram at @royalenapoletana, the announcement says.
