One year after Miami Beach Police Sgt. David Cajuso was killed in a motorcycle crash, his widow, Eileen Cajuso, told NBC 6 South Florida on Wednesday that she is still looking for answers about what happened and has hired an attorney to look into it.

Cajuso, 33, a 10-year veteran of the department, crashed his motorcycle at the Gratigny interchange in northwest Miami-Dade on Oct. 28, 2025, shortly after starting his shift, the station reported. He left his wife and three young children; the youngest was a year old.

“I want to know what happened that day, and I don’t know,” Eileen Cajuso told NBC 6. She said she wants a thorough investigation that looks at every aspect of the crash, and she asked anyone who saw it or has photos from that day to come forward. The station’s reports did not say which agency is investigating or what stage the investigation is in.

In the interviews, she described stepping away from her career to raise the children and leaning on her faith. She said officers from the Miami Beach Police Department have kept showing up for the family over the past year, from decorating their home for the holidays to taking the children to swim lessons. She now hosts a weekly Bible study at home and shares the family’s experience on social media to support others who are grieving.

Family and friends gathered Wednesday to mark the anniversary of his death, NBC 6 reported.
