69 Street closure at Indian Creek Drive extended to Nov. 6 for pump station work

Weather and king tides delayed the pump station #19 force main work; there are no turns onto 69 Street from Indian Creek Drive or Byron Avenue.

69 Street between Indian Creek Drive and Byron Avenue in North Beach will stay closed until Friday, Nov. 6, the City of Miami Beach said in a notice Friday. The city said weather and king tides caused the delay.

The notice is the only source for this story, and Red Sidewalks has not independently verified it.

Intersections at both ends remain open to traffic, but drivers cannot turn onto 69 Street from Indian Creek Drive or Byron Avenue. The city said pedestrian access will be maintained for residents on the block.

For detours, the city recommends Abbott Avenue for southbound traffic and Harding Avenue for northbound traffic. Flaggers and signs will direct drivers.

The closure is part of repairs to pump station #19 at 69 Street. The city said the crew is finalizing a new pathway for the force main replacement, and several steel plates will remain in place for that pathway.

Separately, the city noted that the Florida Department of Transportation’s pedestrian and traffic improvements along 71 Street continue, with daily and nightly lane closures.

Questions can go to the city’s Neighborhood Affairs Coordinator, Nicholas Levy, at [email protected]. The city said more notices will follow as the project progresses.
