A City of Miami Beach case worker was arrested Thursday on charges of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, third-degree grand theft and dealing in stolen property after police said he took about $2,000 in jewelry from a woman’s apartment, Local 10 News reported, citing a Miami Beach Police arrest report. The report has not been independently confirmed by Red Sidewalks, and no other outlet had reported the arrest as of Saturday.

According to the station, the woman told police a gold necklace and ring were missing from her living room. Detectives reviewed footage from her doorbell camera, which police said showed the man knocking on her door around 2:20 p.m. on Oct. 15, then entering without permission and staying two to three minutes while she was downstairs in her building’s lobby.

Police said the 31-year-old, who lives in Pembroke Pines, came to the police department Thursday to give a statement and admitted to entering the apartment and taking the jewelry, according to the report as described by Local 10. He was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $10,000 bond as of Friday afternoon, the station reported.

Local 10 did not say which city department the man works for or whether the woman was connected to his job. The station said it had asked the city for comment. Red Sidewalks is not naming him because prosecutors have not yet filed formal charges, and is not identifying the woman. An arrest is not a conviction.
