Who's lobbying Miami Beach: parking contracts, North Lincoln Lane and a flooded West Lakeview block
New registrations on the city clerk's list show companies chasing parking deals and city land, and homeowners organizing on flooding and parking.
A parking operator bidding for a city contract, a developer seeking to commercialize city-owned land behind Lincoln Road and a group of West Lakeview homeowners worried about flooding are among the newest names registered to lobby Miami Beach officials, according to the city clerk’s list of lobbyists with active issues, dated Oct. 26.
Anyone paid to influence city decisions in Miami Beach must register by issue, and the list shows each lobbyist’s client, the subject and, in most cases, the disclosed fee. These are some of the registrations filed since late September.
Parking and technology
- LAZ Florida Parking registered lobbyist Rafael E. Andrade on Oct. 5 for the city’s request for proposals for parking management services, at a disclosed $6,000 a month.
- Pave Mobility registered Andrade on Oct. 12 on automated parking enforcement at city-owned lots, with $50,000 disclosed.
- With Verso registered on Oct. 22 for a proposed partnership, pilot or contract for what it calls a destination demand-intelligence platform, and Zayo Group on Oct. 13 on deploying telecommunications infrastructure.
City land and leases
- MAC 723 LL, a company listing Michael Comras as principal, added lobbyist Jimmy Morales on Sept. 25, at a disclosed $1,750 an hour, for contract talks with the city on improving and commercializing city-owned roadway land next to its properties on North Lincoln Lane. Rafael Paz has been registered on the same issue since May, at $1,045 an hour. A proposed Lincoln Road North overlay goes to the Planning Board Dec. 8.
- AE 1601 Washington LLC registered Gabriel Groisman on Oct. 2, at $10,000 a month, on the purchase of a lease interest at 1601 Washington Ave. and talks with the city about approving and possibly amending the lease.
Neighbors
- The West Lakeview Flood Relief Committee, which the list describes as an ad hoc group of homeowners on the blocks between 50th and 51st streets from Cherokee to Delaware avenues, registered Jeffrey Bercow on Oct. 14 as its neighborhood association representative, with no compensation.
- The Venetian Islands Homeowners Association registered on Oct. 7 on parking on the islands, and the Palm Hibiscus Star Island Association on Oct. 5 and 7 on construction parking plans and their enforcement.
Registration means a lobbyist may contact officials on an issue; it does not mean the city has acted. The full list, 62 pages, is on the clerk’s lobbyist page.
