Miami Beach now has five free book boxes where anyone can pick up a book or drop one off, Commissioner Monica Matteo-Salinas announced in her November newsletter, sent Monday. She wrote that the boxes are already in use.

The boxes are at:

  • Flamingo Park, 11th Street and Jefferson Avenue
  • City Hall, 1700 Convention Center Drive
  • Muss Park, 4300 Chase Ave.
  • Crespi Park, 7801 Crespi Blvd.
  • Tatum Park, 8050 Byron Ave.

Residents can stop by at any time to browse, donate a book they’ve finished or take a new one, according to the newsletter. Matteo-Salinas, who brought the program forward, wrote that she hopes the boxes become small hubs for sharing and reading, and that the collections grow over time.

The locations and addresses come from a map in her newsletter, which Red Sidewalks has not independently checked at each site. The newsletter did not say who stocks or looks after the boxes.
