Surfside pool heater delayed; residents offered free swims at Miami Shores pool
A maintenance problem has held up the Community Center pool's seasonal heating, leaving the water at about 74 to 77 degrees for now.
Update: In a follow-up notice Friday, the town said a gas leak affecting the main pool heater has been resolved, but testing found a damaged circuit board that must be replaced. The town expects the part to be installed by Monday or Tuesday and said it is working with the vendor to speed up the repair.
The heater for the main pool at the Surfside Community Center has not been switched on for the cooler season because of a maintenance issue, the Town of Surfside said in its weekly digest Friday.
Until it is fixed, the town expects the pool water to stay between 74 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit. The notice did not say when the repair will be finished; the town said it is working to resolve the problem as soon as possible and will post updates.
In the meantime, Surfside residents can swim at the Miami Shores pool at no charge, through a partnership with Miami Shores. Residents need a reservation, which can be made by calling 305-795-2242.

The town’s notice is the only source for this story, and Red Sidewalks has not independently verified it.
