Sunny Isles Beach precinct 002 votes at Gateway Park on Election Day
Voters assigned to St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church on North Bay Road go to 151 Sunny Isles Blvd. instead on Tuesday, Nov. 3, the county says.
Voters in Sunny Isles Beach’s precinct 002 will cast Election Day ballots at Gateway Park, 151 Sunny Isles Blvd., instead of their usual polling place at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, the Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections office announced.
Precinct 002 is one of 19 precincts countywide that are temporarily moving for the Tuesday, Nov. 3, general election, according to the county’s Oct. 30 release. None of the other new sites on the list is in Miami Beach or the other barrier-island towns. The county’s polling place list puts St. Mary Magdalen at 17775 N. Bay Road in Sunny Isles Beach. Gateway Park was listed as the polling place for neighboring precinct 004 on the county’s most recent published general election list, from 2022.
The release does not give a reason for each move. It says facility construction, scheduling conflicts and other circumstances made some sites unavailable, and notes that the elections office does not own or run the buildings it uses. Signs have been posted at the old locations, and affected voters were notified, the county said.
What voters need to know
- Election Day voters must vote at their assigned precinct. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, and anyone in line by 7 p.m. can vote.
- To check an assigned polling place, use the voter information lookup at votemiamidade.gov. The county says the updated location appears there automatically.
- Early voting continues through Sunday, Nov. 1, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 28 sites, and early voters may use any of them regardless of precinct.
CBS News Miami also reported the changes Saturday.
