Bay Harbor Islands committee to discuss pool access deal with Surfside
The town's parks committee will consider asking the council to explore an agreement letting Bay Harbor Islands residents use the Surfside Community Center pool.
Bay Harbor Islands’ Parks and Recreation Committee will discuss recommending that the Town Council explore an interlocal agreement with Surfside so Bay Harbor Islands residents can use the pool at the Surfside Community Center, according to the committee’s agenda for Tuesday, Nov. 10.
The item comes from the town’s parks and recreation director, Adrian Hernandez. The packet includes no staff memo or details yet on cost, hours or how many residents could use the pool. Any agreement would need approval from both towns.
The Surfside Community Center, at 9301 Collins Ave., has a lap pool, a plunge pool with a slide, a children’s pool and a hot tub, according to the Town of Surfside. Surfside has its own pool deal with a neighbor: while its main pool heater has been out of service this fall, the town has offered residents free swims at the Miami Shores pool.
The committee meets at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Community Center, 1175 95th St., Rooms 2–3, and online through Zoom. It will also choose a chair and vice chair. Written comments can go to the town clerk in advance.
