Skybridge frame linking Convention Center and Grand Hyatt is in place, mayor says
The enclosed walkway will connect the convention center to the 800-room hotel rising at 17th Street and Convention Center Drive, due to open in late 2027.
The frame for the glass skybridge that will link the Miami Beach Convention Center to the new Grand Hyatt Miami Beach is now in place, Mayor Steven Meiner said in a post on X on Wednesday evening. The post is the only source for the milestone, and Red Sidewalks has not independently confirmed it.
Meiner described the bridge as a climate-controlled walkway that will let guests move between the two buildings. The city had promised the link when the hotel topped off in July.
The 800-room hotel is going up at 17th Street and Convention Center Drive, according to the city’s July 28 announcement. It will have 12 floors of guest rooms, four floors of meeting and ballroom space and a fifth-floor rooftop deck, plus about 17,000 square feet of shops at street level. Terra and Turnberry are developing it, Arquitectonica designed it and Balfour Beatty is building it, the city said. The hotel is scheduled to open in late 2027.
