A weekly look at what’s opening, closing and changing hands in the coverage area. State license records show a business’s paperwork, not whether its doors are open, so each item says where it comes from.

Coming

  • Ginga at Bossa House, 3900 Collins Ave., Mid-Beach. The 1939 Copley Plaza hotel, designed by Albert Anis, is being restored as Bossa House, a 97-room hotel in IHG’s Vignette Collection that is set to open in January 2027, What Now Miami reported Wednesday. Its restaurant, Ginga, is planned as an all-day spot with Brazilian and Mediterranean influences, next to a caipirinha bar, the report says. The state’s restaurant roster already lists a 60-seat license under the Ginga name at that address. The opening date rests on that report and has not been independently confirmed.
  • Ukiyo, 818 Lincoln Road, South Beach. A conveyor-belt sushi restaurant announced for Lincoln Road; details here.
  • Mexicano, 18220 Collins Ave., Sunny Isles Beach. Plans for a restaurant under that name went into state plan review on Oct. 30, filed by a company, JK Pita LLC. Plan review means a kitchen is being built or remodeled; no opening date has been announced.

Changed hands

State records show new license holders at three restaurants. The records don’t say whether the menus or names will change.

  • Alma Cubana, 650 Ocean Drive, South Beach: new owner MFP 1200 LLC as of Oct. 29. A state licensing inspection the same day ended with no further action.
  • Luna, 18110 Collins Ave., Sunny Isles Beach: new owner KC26 Dairy LLC as of Nov. 2.
  • Flaky, 321 Collins Ave., South Beach: an ownership change recorded last week, followed by a licensing inspection that ended with no further action.

Closed

  • Cafe Rigatsi and Morelia Paletas, Surfside. Both have closed, Surfside’s tourism director told the town’s Resort Tax Board on Oct. 12, according to draft minutes the board will vote on Monday. He also reported that a new business will open in the former AT&T store at 9545 Harding Ave. and that a Pilates studio opened on 95th Street. More on that meeting.

Inspections

Two routine state inspections ended with inspectors recommending an administrative complaint, according to state records. Neither ended in a closure order.

  • Carpaccio, 9700 Collins Ave., Suite 139 (Bal Harbour Shops): Oct. 30, nine violations, one of them high-priority.
  • Il Dante, 760 Ocean Drive, South Beach: Oct. 29, two violations, none high-priority.
