The week ahead: last day of early voting, Election Day and a busy Planning Board
Early voting ends Sunday, polls open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, and the Planning Board takes up the Cameo, Terminal Island helipads and more. Plus street work starting Monday.
Sunday is the last day of early voting for Tuesday’s general election and Miami Beach’s special election, and the city’s Planning Board meets the same morning polls are open. Here is what is scheduled in Miami Beach this week, according to city and state notices.
Voting
Early voting runs 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, according to the city clerk’s schedule. Voters can use any early voting site in Miami-Dade County. The two in Miami Beach are City Hall, 1700 Convention Center Drive (first-floor conference room, with free parking in the City Hall Garage, G7, entered from 18th Street), and the North Shore Branch Library, 7501 Collins Ave. Every early voting site has a drop box for vote-by-mail ballots.
On Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, voters must go to their assigned polling place, open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Miami Beach’s only local question is the proposed amendment to the city’s ground lease at 1691 Michigan Avenue. Sunny Isles Beach precinct 002 votes at a temporary site at Gateway Park.

- Beach View Park: The restrooms at 5301 Collins Ave. close Monday for renovation through the second week of December; portable toilets will be available, the city said.
- 69 Street: The block between Indian Creek Drive and Byron Avenue stays closed through Friday, Nov. 6, for pump station work. The city suggests Abbott Avenue southbound and Harding Avenue northbound as detours.
- Leaving the beach at night: All westbound I-395 lanes close at Biscayne Boulevard from 11 p.m. Sunday and Monday nights, and again from 10 p.m. Tuesday, according to FDOT’s project team. Details and detours.
